Meet our amazing team:
Jocelyn Johnson, Founder
Jocelyn Johnson is the Founder of VideoInk and leads on business strategy and operations. She also regularly contributes to the publication. Johnson built VideoInk in response to the maturing deal mechanics and overall industry she found in working with clients engaged through her Public Relations business, JJPR, launched in 2011. Over the course of her seven years working in digital entertainment as a communications strategist, Johnson has worked with industry leaders including Felicia Day, Shira Lazar, Big Frame, Dailymotion, DanceOn, INDMUSIC, Machinima, StyleHaul, Tubular Labs, and more. She’s passionate about the growth and future of the online video industry and is excited to tell the stories that shape and move the business at large. Johnson can be reached at [email protected].
Sahil Patel, Editorial Director
Prior to VideoInk, Sahil was the Editor of Cynopsis Digital, a daily newsletter for media, marketing, and agency executives. There, he covered the digital video space, focusing on everything from content and advertising to technology and executive moves. He also oversaw the production of several conferences and webinars, including, most recently, the Cynopsis Digital Big Monetization Summit. He has appeared as a guest speaker at the New York Television Festival and NPR’s On the Media program. Sahil holds a degree in Film Studies with a concentration on production and development from Vanderbilt University. He can be reached at [email protected].
Matthew Manarino, West Coast Editor
Matthew Manarino is the West Coast Editor of VideoInk. He started his career reporting about comic books. He was then blasted with Gamma radiation, which led him to serve as Managing Editor for leading YouTube culture publication NewMediaRockstars. Matthew has profiled numerous web and pop culture icons, including Henry Rollins, Chris Hardwick, and Grumpy Cat (true story). He has written scripts for news program “Rocketboom,” which have gone on to receive thousands of views. His work has also been featured at Panelbound, NextShark, Foodbeast, and Geeks of Doom. You can contact him at [email protected].
Liz Shannon Miller, Editor at Large
As a journalist, Liz has been covering the digital content space since 2006, been called the Pauline Kael of online video by at least one person, and once she took over the front page of YouTube with her web series picks. Her work has been published by the New York Times, Variety, GigaOM, Nerve and Thought Catalog. Based in Los Angeles, she holds a degree in screenwriting and interactive multimedia from USC, and lives a full and active internet life at http://lizshannonmiller.com. Allen Weiner, Web TV Critic
For a guy who grew up in a household that forbade weeknight TV viewing, Allen Weiner sure took a strange career path. Allen Weiner is a media industry veteran having worked in TV, radio and publishing for more than three decades. He was a highly respected TV critic and columnist for the Everett Herald for nine years writing about the Seattle and national TV scene and somewhere has picture of himself with Jerry Mathers (as The Beaver). A two-time game show winner, Weiner is a well-known technology analyst covering the publishing, commerce and content marketing space. He is, without question, unbeatable in most matters of baseball and TV trivia. He holds degrees from Muhlenberg College and Temple University. He can be reached at [email protected]. You also can follow him on Twitter @allenweiner.
Fruzsina Eordogh, Freelancer
Fruzsina Eördögh is freelance writer whose work has appeared in VICE, Thought Catalog, The Guardian, Slate, xoJane and ReadWrite, among others. Originally from Budapest, Hungary, she grew up in New York City before moving to Chicago for college. Digital watchers may know her for Reply Girls series which received national attention (and an interview on NPR) and she’s spoken at the University of Chicago on hyperlocal blogging. One time she was profiled by the largest socialist newspaper in her Motherland. When Ms. Eördögh is not making waves on the Internet, she’s playing video games or snuggling with her tuxedo cat.
