BREAKING: Toldja! Scripps Networks’ ULive.com to Debut a Dozen Online Originals
Following our scoop in April that Scripps Networks was readying a new Hulu-like platform called ULive.com for launch in early June, VideoInk has learned more about the network’s programming slate, which is set to debut this coming Friday, says a source close to the platform development. Scripps Networks is the parent company for lifestyle cable channels DIY, HGTV and The Food Network.
Upon further digging the site is already live and here’s their welcome video: http://www.ulive.com/video/welcome-video
As we reported previously, Scripps Network’s strategy was to both repurpose its existing IP from the Food Network, HGTV, and Travel Channel brands and include original made-for-web programming across food, parenting, wellness and travel and home. We’ve also learned that ULive.com will also license 3rd party content aligning with those categories as well.
Scripps Networks will debut nearly a dozen shows on ULive.com featuring homegrown talent such as Leighton Thomas, Jamie Grayson, Sonia Gil, Craig Ramsey, Joy the Baker and even DJ Dave, who is said to create up to four songs for ULive.com exclusively according to one source.

Here’s what we know so far in regards to the original programming:
Cooking with Kids – Hosted by Hilah, from Hilah Cooking, Cooking with Kids pairs the effervescent Hilah with a kiddo to cook a fine meal. Similar to the natural charm we see in other candid-kid programming like The Fine Brothers “Kids React”, this show is said to be quite funny!
Yeah Dave – Based on his blog, http://www.yeahdave.com/, Yeah Dave is said to focus on living in the moment and meditative ways to bring focus to the present.
Om on the Go – A show that proves you can do Yoga and center yourself just about anywhere.
Almost Free – Hosted by Sonia Gil, travel expert, this show takes viewers on journeys around the world.
What Would the Maid Think? – from our understanding this is a prank show that installs hidden cameras in hotels where the host Bert Kreischer has stayed and well, “rearranged” a few things in his room before checking out.
The Girls with Glasses – Adapted from the well known blog: http://www.thegirlswithglasses.com/, this show will likely focus on DIY home and fashion/beauty topics.
Kids Cribs – Imagine mansion-equivalent baby pads a la MTV’s Cribs but for tots. Well that’s Kids Cribs in 12 words.
PARENTING: Parenting related programming includes shows First Time Mom, Mommy Shorts, Baby Gear Guide hosted by Jamie Grayson.Tags: digital native programming, made for web, online originals, scripps networks, Sonia Gil, ulive, ulive.com, web series
