Contradiction Films, Legendary Revive ’70s Classic with Grace Helbig & Hannah Hart
Legendary Digital Media and Fullscreen have picked up an adaptation of ’70s classic “Electra Woman and Dyna Girl” from Contradiction Films — the production team behind Machinima’s “Mortal Kombat: Legacy” and Crackle’s (and Legendary’s) “Dead Rising: Watchtower” — with Grace Helbig and Hannah Hart attached to star.
The classic series created by Old Hollywood producers Sid & Marty Krofft originally premiered in 1976 and accumulated quite a cult following for the time. The Krofft duo are set to executive produce, alongside Helbig, Hart, and their respective managers Ken Treusch and Sarah Weicher. Fullscreen will retain domestic distribution rights while Legendary Digital will oversee global distribution opportunities.
“Electra Woman and Dyna Girl” follows two superheroes as they move from Akron to Los Angeles in hopes of making it big in the crime fighting world, only to find competition with other vigilantes and infighting amongst themselves.
In many ways it’s a series logline that closely parallels the lives of two YouTube stars trying to make it in Big Hollywood, but given Helbig and Hart’s existing on-camera and IRL chemistry, along with their deep reach to a youth demographic, the series could definitely have some nice legs.
The reboot of the cult classic TV series will be directed by Chris Marrs Piliero, an award-winning director of music videos for top artists including Ariana Grande, Ke$ha, and The Black Keys.Tags: Contradiction Films, fullscreen, Grace Helbig, Greg Siegel, Hannah Hart, legendary digital media, Legendary Entertainment, Marty Krofft, Sid Krofft, youtube to tv crossover
