Hulu continues to build its originals slate with projects from acclaimed filmmakers.
The company has picked up “The Way,” a new drama series from Jason Katims (“Friday Night Lights,” “Parenthood”) and writer/creator Jessica Goldberg. A 10-episode drama, “The Way” will examine a family at the center of a controversial faith-based movement strugglign with relationships, marriage, and power.
The series will be produced by Universal Television for Hulu. Katims is on board as executive producer and showrunner through his production company True Jack Productions. It will be the Emmy-winner’s first non-network TV series. Michelle Lee and Jessica Goldberg will also executive produce.
This is Hulu’s third series pickup that’s greater in stature than what the streaming service has been known for when it comes to original programming. In the past year, Hulu has ordered full seasons of shows from JJ Abrams, Jason Reitman, and Amy Poehler. It also has a series in the works with Lionsgate and YouTube star Freddie Wong.
