IAWTV Teams Up with New Media Expo for 2014 Awards
It’s been a busy summer for the International Academy of Web Television. In the past couple of months, the industry body has nominated and appointed a new crop of directors to its board as it looks to secure its place in the industry as well as continue to grow its biggest asset, the annual awards show in Las Vegas.
Back when VideoInk first reported on the election of the new board members, we said that the IAWTV was in the process of working out a deal with an events organization for the 2014 awards show, which is scheduled to take place on January 7, 2014. The deal would cover back-end operational and promotional support for the IAWTV Awards. The announcement was imminent, it was said at the time the new board of directors was announced.
We are now able to report that the IAWTV has inked a deal with New Media Expo, the events organization in question, which runs a conference/show in the days prior to CES in Las Vegas. The IAWTV and New Media Expo will co-produce the annual awards show, which traditionally runs during CES, and the red carpet for the program.
It’s still unclear if the deal only covers 2014, or if the two organizations are working on a partnership that extends into the next several years.
Though, in conjunction with the deal, New Media Expo plans to produce a new “web TV” track for its 2014 event, which will feature several IAWTV members including new chairman J. Sibley Law and director Tim Street.Tags: CES, IAWTV, J. Sibley Law, Las Vegas, New Media Expo, Streamys
