Maker Studios Unveils ‘New(est)’ Strategy
Maker Studios, with a veteran TV executive now at the helm, wants to be more like a TV programmer. Announced this morning at the Variety Entertainment & Tech Summit, Maker Studios executive chairman Ynon Kreiz said the MCN plans to organize its verticals into four consumer-oriented (and advertiser-friendly) categories, focusing on men, women, family, and entertainment.
According to Kreiz, the four categories will feature multiple Maker verticals, including Animonster, Cartoonium, FriendlyPaw, Maker Music, The Mom’s View, and the Platform. Right now Maker offers seven targeted verticals, or mini MCNs. The company plans to expand that number to at least 20 beginning in January.
Kreiz also announced the launch of Maker Max, which is described as a platform to help Maker creators better manage their channels.
Maker’s overall network currently features over 60,000 channels and several hundreds of million subscribers, including list-toppers like PewDiePie, Epic Rap Battles of History, and KassemG.
