Netflix Tops 50M Global Subscribers
Netflix has surpassed 50 million streaming subscribers for the first time, the company announced via its Q2 2014 earnings report. The streaming service ended Q1 2014 with 48.35 members across all of its global territories, a number that rose to 50.05 million by end of Q2.
The US accounted for 36.24 million of the streaming service’s customer base, with international members rising to 13.8 million. The latter is a 78% increase compared to the same time report in the previous year.
Looking ahead, the company projects 53.74 million global streaming customers by the end of Q3.
Maybe equally as important, Netflix hit expectations. The company netted $1.15 per share and revenue of $1.34 billion in the quarter. Market projections had Netflix hitting $1.14 per share with revenues of $1.34 billion, in addition to 36.2 million domestic and 13.7 million international subscribers.
