The Fine Bros Renew ‘MyMusic’ for a Second Season
Benny and Rafi Fine, known on the web (and probably in real life) as The Fine Brothers, have begun work on the second season of “MyMusic,” a “transmedia” sitcom that follows the shenanigans taking place at a successful music studio.
The second season brings back the full cast from the first season, including Adam Busch (“Men at Work”) and Grace Helbig (“Daily Grace”), as well as new additions Lee Newton and Paul Butcher (“Zoey 101”). Production is already underway, with plans for a mid-to-late summer launch.
Update: The Fine Brothers tell us that Season 2 guest stars will include Freddie Wong (“as an EDM DJ”); Joey Graceffa (another YouTuber who was just on this season of “The Amazing Race”); and Janet Varney (star of Nickelodeon’s “The Legend of Korra” in the role of a “team-building professional”).
A transmedia sitcom in the truest sense, “MyMusic” encompasses a YouTube original channel (part of the video giant’s ongoing programming initiative), a second YouTube channel offering ancillary content, and a bunch of custom social media accounts for the fictional characters at the heart of the show.
“We had an overwhelming fan response in Season 1 and we definitely couldn’t have made it to a second season without their viewership and participation,” said Benny Fine.
The first season took place between April 2012 and January 2013, snagging 26 million total views, nearly 350,000 subscribers and almost 250,000 total social media followers along the way. It was a critical hit as well, with 10 Streamy nominations (more than any other show) and two IAWTV nominations.
As for the second season, Fine said: “We’re building a deeper experience that continues to blur the lines between reality and fictional storylines in Season 2 and our fans are going to love it!”
The Fine Brothers are no strangers to success on YouTube, as their main, self-titled channel has amassed more than 730 million views to date. One of their other successful web video programs, the “React” reality franchise, took home a special award at the 2012 Daytime Emmys, as well as prizes at the Streamy Awards, the IAWTV Awards and the Webby Awards.Tags: Adam Busch, comedy, Grace Helbig, MyMusic, Original Channel, The Fine Brothers, youtube
