5 Emerging TV Channels on YouTube

Today Show on YouTube 3-1-15

Just as movie trailers have become a major staple on YouTube, so TV series are using the video platform to promote their upcoming episodes and offer big fans a little something extra between episodes and even seasons.

Of course, some TV series are more suited to having a supplementary YouTube channel than others. News and talk shows, for instance, can post clips featuring relevant news items and highlights of longer interviews with celebrities to get viewers intrigued about the full episode. Such shorts can even stand alone as entertainment. However, fictional series “Hawaii Five-O” joins the various news and talk shows on this list of emerging channels on YouTube, providing big fans (of which the show has many–it’s kind of become a cult favorite as a remake of the original series from the 70s) with in-depth interviews about the making of the show and “best of” videos.

Ultimately, this indicates that no matter the genre of television show, it can have a thriving home on the digital video platform, where fans are more than likely to turn to satisfy their TV cravings between episodes.

According to data from OpenSlate, a YouTube analytics engine from Outrigger Media, the following YouTube channels are gaining a fan base that may come to reach the size of their audiences on TV:
