Playlist Voices: Favorite Project Since Last Year’s Playlist Live
Since last year’s Playlist Live, which of your projects or videos have you been most proud of? Why?
Charles Lincoln “Link” Neal (Rhett & Link):
“Our daily show, ‘Good Mythical Morning’ has really gained a new level of momentum in the new year. It’s shifted from being a side project of ours to becoming the main vehicle of for our brand; and we’re really excited about taking it to Playlist for a live taping.”
“Easily two projects come to mind. One is the channel I started called TheGoodStuff. I enlisted the help of a handful of friends and we have made over a hundred videos. They come in the form of playlists around themes. One theme is Airplanes, one is Time, etc. Videos range from fictional to educational to documentary to comedy to whatever we want, I guess. The other project is a video on WheezyWaiter called ‘Clone Hard‘ It’s a longer, bigger video than I usually do that I worked on for two weeks when most of my videos take a day. It’s a big, explosive action adventure and I’m really happy with how it turned out.”
“I’ve been most proud of launching a brand new YouTube channel.”
“Oh my goodness…OK. I’m going to do my best to not leave anything out. Aside from the usual two videos and a podcast every week I have:
- A show with the Animalist Network called ‘Furrocious,’ which is awesome because I get to work with my lovely girlfriend a bit more.
- I’ve gone on tour music/comedy tours around the US.
- I have a music/comedy record coming out at playlist called “Zebadiah Zebra Pants”
- I’ve been lucky enough to do some writing for ‘YouTube Nation.’
- I’m starting to work on my second book.
- I started a series called ‘Making Women Happy‘ which is so much fun.
- I never want to point to ONE video…but I like this one a lot.
I’m sure there are a few things I’m leaving out. I’m proud of all of it. Venturing more into stand-up comedy has been an amazing and humbling experience. It’s one of the scariest things I’ve ever tried to do. At the same time I feel like I’m watching myself grow as a performer and I’m finding my voice as a comic. It’s an ongoing process. Sometimes I have no idea whether or not I’m ‘doing good’ and I think the main thing I’ve figured out is that it doesn’t matter. The only thing that matters is that I’m doing it to the best of my ability.
Long story short: Comedy has taught me that my biggest fear isn’t doing something and failing. My biggest fear is not doing it in the first place.”
“Since last year’s Playlist Live I have actually created a few projects that I am proud to call some of my favorite work to date. That being said, I made one short film called ‘Lost Island.’ It was kind of a side passion-project that turned into something much more concrete and, in addition to opening a lot of doors for me in the traditional film world, it was a heck of a lot of fun to make too!”
