The Super Bowl is a big deal. But at this point, it feels like the advertising during the game (and, increasingly, surrounding the game) has become even bigger. Brands are no longer waiting until the Super Bowl to unleash their latest ad or campaign. Nope, it’s become a weeks-long process in some cases.
The beneficiaries of this expansion are online video providers, specifically YouTube and Hulu, both of which power hubs for Super Bowl advertising. On YouTube, those ads are available via the Ad Blitz channel.
This year, though, on top of all of the TV ads, YouTube decided to do something original and fun. Partnering with a variety of creators — from comedy institutions like the UCB to top creators like The Fine Brothers — the Ad Blitz program is also offering a list of fake comedy commercials for a hot new product called “The Blitz.” The videos are already live, and as of last Wednesday night, have accumulated more than 600,000 views in total.
