Top 5 Emerging Fitness Channels on YouTube

/ Jan 5, 2014

What better time to take a look at the top emerging fitness YouTube channels than the start of the New Year? Now that most of us are focused on slimming down before summer, we will be looking for fitness gurus and coaches to point us in the right direction. Luckily, YouTube has become an incredible resource for finding content that is equal parts informative and inspiring.

“Fitness as a content vertical is taking off on YouTube first and foremost because it’s more than just how-to – it’s an opportunity to subscribe to motivating personalities who inspire and reinforce a positive lifestyle,” says Cathy Butler, SVP, group account director, DigitasLBi.

Fitness channels on YouTube are able to meet the rising trend of, as Butler says, “always on health.” As CES looms, early speculation is that this year’s hot items will be in wearable fitness. These are watches, bands, and sensors that track our steps and mark our calories every second of the day. In 2014, we want access to fitness content on every screen 24/7.

“YouTube subscriptions are so powerful because they allow talents to connect with viewers conveniently across desktop, mobile, email and in the digital home.” says Butler. “As online video consumption shifts towards Connected TV, YouTube fitness channels will become the next-gen workout DVD, similar to subscription services like DailyBurn, but in a much more long-tail and freemium manner.”

Looking to get fit anytime, anywhere this year? Then check out these top emerging fitness YouTube channels courtesy Outrigger Media’s OpenSlate platform and its Emerging Talent Tracker tool, in partnership with DigitasLBi. Let’s get physical, YouTube.
