Top Five Emerging Business/Finance Channels on YouTube
Would you trust business and financial advice that comes from YouTube? DigitasLBi’s Jill Sherman, vice president/group director of social & content strategy, understands that most people probably don’t. “When you think of YouTube, you generally think of user-generated content in abundance,” she noted, “but business advice and financial services are tricky when it comes to UGC. Trust and credibility plays a much larger role here than in other categories, like beauty, food, etc…”
So what sorts of business and finance channels are poised to succeed on the online video platform? “It’s no surprise that four of the five top emerging business/finance content creators are media outlets. And the fifth is a financial brand,” Sherman explained. With a fan base that already has faith in their reporting, outlets like Fortune Magazine and the International Business Times have growing YouTube channels that more and more people are starting to keep an eye on.
Furthermore, these media outlets have the ability to cover global news that other YouTube channels hoping to cover business and finance lack. “Large media outlets…turn out large amounts of video content, which then gets a relevancy boost,” said Sherman, who went on to extol the easy consumption of the video medium. In other words, the following emerging business and finance channels are a little bit like watching the news…but since it’s on YouTube, you get more control of which news stories you want to see.
