Top Five Emerging Travel Channels on YouTube
Spring is finally here. Which means that summer, and the opportunity to get away from the doldrums of work and real life, isn’t that far away.
As you go about planning your next vacation, though, you might find yourself turning to YouTube to learn of the many gorgeous locales you might enjoy spending some time in. As with any other content category, there isn’t a shortage of travel channels you can enlist to help determine your next getaway destination. But which will help you pick the right vacation spot for you?
“Travel content on the web has historically been aspirational,” says Meghan Riley, VP/group director, media, at DigitasLBi. “The goal was to entice you with beautiful scenery, sights, and sounds so that you’d visit a destination. But recently we’ve seen more and more new travel content that is about the untold stories of a beautiful destination, the locals’ POV, or about the emotional connections people can make when they travel outside of their comfort zone.”
It’s easy to flip through magazines and websites and see beautiful images of beaches and waterfalls and make a decision based off that. But if you want to truly have a great vacation experience, then it makes sense to actually learn about the locations you’re hoping to visit. As Riley notes, it’s here where YouTube becomes a great resource.
“Now travel content is not only beautiful, but also highlights the stories that make you think, not just daydreams of a beach,” Riley says.
What’s more, “these new stories create a connection and sense of community among travelers who have had the same experience. More frequently travel content is featuring what travel is really all about — the experience and the stories you tell when you return”
So as your mind drifts to summer and vacation mode, take a look at the following channels, which, as determined by Outrigger Media’s Emerging Talent Tracker, are rising fast in the travel category on YouTube. They very well might have the travel tips, stories, and yes, even the beautiful images, to convince you that a particular spot is the one for you.
