VidCon Voices: Chilled Chaos

Chilled Chaos

Since last VidCon, what are the changes you’ve seen to the YouTube platform/community, if any, and do you feel those changes are for the better?

Obviously there have been major changes to the actual website itself, lending itself to be more streamlined when it comes to individual channels. It definitely simplified the workings of a channel, in turn making them easier to navigate and positively affect user experience. Although I was originally against this change in the beginning, (fearing it would ruin uniqueness) it does seem to be working for the better when it comes to users properly finding my playlists and actually being able to watch videos back to back.

Part of a successful channel is regularly uploading content, but if you had to choose only ONE video of your own that best defines you and your channel, which would it be?

I feel this video speaks volumes to what exactly my channel is about in a nutshell. It’s gaming, it’s roleplaying, and it shows off the type of camaraderie and interactions I have with my friends. When running jokes (such as the Watermelon being my wife) get turned into entire videos, it can be something that makes an entire audience laugh if edited correctly. Being outlandish yet still being entertaining is something I like to think my channel is built on, and this is a perfect example of that.

If you could trade places with another YouTuber for a day, who would it be and why?

I would like to trade places with any channel that is just starting. To remember what it’s like to have these new feelings and thoughts about the world we call ‘YouTube’. To almost have that childish/”ignorance is bliss” outlook on the entire thing. To be able to look at something you have no knowledge about, and try to learn about it. It would be like being able to read a book or watch a movie or play a game for the first time again. I’m sure if that happened my ideas and videos would be as fresh as ever because I would have no clue what works…so I would experiment.

What’s your favorite comment one of your videos has ever received? The weirdest?

My favorite comment that I received is a simple one. It’s the one that goes along the lines of ‘Just keep doing what you are doing, we enjoy it’. It’s all too simple to get caught up in different trends, changing video styles, different editing techniques, etc. But when a simple comment reminds you that the way you are doing things is perfect for them, it makes you smile. It also helps when its thumbs-ed up, to. *laughs* As for weirdest comment? I’m not too sure…I have been solicited for sex before? And that’s a really nice way to put it. It went along the lines of sending me a personal Facebook message that said “I want to **** your brains out”.

Tell me something about the future of your channel. What’s something you haven’t done yet that you’d like to do? Whether it’s a collab with a certain person, a different kind of format, or something else!

I’d like to incorporate more ‘me’ in my channel. As it stands, it’s a collection of gaming videos that showcases myself having fun. And ultimately, in my opinion, that’s what my channel should be about. Simply having fun. But I would like to incorporate more than just that eventually. I would like to share life anecdotes, life successes, life failures, where I see myself going, my worries, my fears. Etc. Everything. Having a personal connection with my audience is important, and although it comes off through the gaming medium, I’d like for it to come off in a more personal way.
