ABC to Air Concert TV Special Based on Companion Web Series for ‘Nashville’
“On the Record,” a companion web series produced by ABC Digital Media Studio and ABC Music Lounge for the music soap “Nashville,” will be getting some TV time, too.
ABC plans to air “Nashville: On the Record,” a one-hour concert special that brings the show’s cast together with the songwriters who created the music they sing on the show.
“On the Record,” which began as a web-only sneak peek to new episodes of “Nashville,” later transitioned into a weekly web series that documents the journey of an original “Nashville” song, from inception to its on-air premiere.
The concert special, executive produced and directed by George Flanigen, will air on ABC on April 23, beginning at 10pm ET. Show cast members will be joined by musicians like Trent Dabbs and Caitlyn Smith, Striking Matches, and Ashley Monroe, performing live in Nashville’s famous Ryman Auditorium, followed by acoustic sessions at the Bluebird Cafe.
The “Nashville” cast is headlined by Connie Britton (“Friday Night Lights”), Hayden Panettiere (“Heroes”), Eric Close, and Charles Esten.
All original music for “Nashville” and “Nashville: On the Record” is released by ABC Studios, show producer Lionsgate, and ABC Music Lounge in association with Big Machine Records, a Nashville-based indie label that reps talents like Taylor Swift, Tim McGraw, and Rascal Flatts.
ABC Music Lounge is the hub for music-related content from ABC shows like “Nashville,” “Castle,” “Dancing with the Stars,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” and “Revenge.” The site features music videos, original series such as “On the Record,” and exclusive performance footage, and interviews with artists, series producers, and music supervisors.Tags: ABC, connie britton, lionsgate, music, Nashville, on the record
