Addams Family-Inspired Web Comedy Wins Creative District Grant

Creative District, an online professional network for filmmakers, offers $5,000 as part of a monthly grant program to help users complete their projects. Last month, the network opened up the program to an “outstanding web series” on YouTube or Vimeo.

Now, Creative District has announced the winner of the August competition, which will go to filmmaker Melissa Hunter and the team behind “Adult Wednesday Addams.”

A comedy series, “Adult Wednesday Addams” follows the life of Wednesday Addams as she moves out of the Addams Family Manor and heads to Los Angeles. There, she navigates adult responsibilities like jobs, romance, and apparently also vengeance. To date, the series has garnered more than 1 million views on YouTube. The show is available on Hunter’s channel, which currently has more than 44,000 subscribers.

With the $5,000 grant, Creative District said it’s supporting the production of season two, which is expected to commence filming later this fall.

Backed by Technicolor, Creative District has more than 12,000 users, and has now awarded seven grants to a variety of projects.
