Amazon Picks Up Five New Kids Pilots
Amazon Studios is beefing up its children’s slate with a new selection of pilots. Five potential shows will follow three kids’ series released by Amazon this summer, with the hopes of adding to the platform’s animated and live-action offerings.
“The Stinky & Dirty Show,” “Buddy: Tech Detective,” and “Niko and the Sword of Light” mark Amazon’s newest animated pilots, while “Table 58” and “Just Add Magic” join the live-action options in the kids programming category. In keeping with Amazon’s latest approach, the pilots’ audiences will get the chance to voice which ones they want to become full series…and which ones will never see another episode on Amazon Instant Video.
Writers of the greenlit pilots include Jennifer Hamburg, Guy Toubes, Roge Hoegee, May Chan, and Nancy Cohen (respectively).
Amazon’s initial children’s shows will also debut new episodes on Prime this autumn. This includes “Tumble Leaf” on September 5, “Creative Galaxy” on October 3, and “Annedroids” on October 30. In addition, a fresh take on the formerly announced pilot of “Sara Solves It” will make its way into the early 2015 Amazon Instant Video roster.
“Tumble Leaf” already received recognition at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival, and the streaming service’s original programming continues to grow with the likes of “The After,” “Transparent,” and “Mozart in the Jungle.”Tags: Amazon, Amazon Instant VIdeo, amazon prime, Animated Series, buddy: tech detective, just add magic, Kids Series, niko and the sword of light, table 58, The After, the stinky & dirty show, transparent
