Amazon Orders Comedy Pilot from ‘Super Troopers’ Helmer Jay Chandrasekhar
Amazon Studios has ordered a half-hour comedy pilot from writer-director-actor Jay Chandrasekhar. It’s the third project to join Amazon’s upcoming pilot season, which also includes the previously-announced “Hand of God” and “The Cosmopolitan.”
“Really” will focus on the lives of four “hard-charging” suburban Chicago couples as they struggle with the issues of married life and growing older. When Jed, played by Chandrasekhar, discovers a friend’s secret, which could unravel the friend group if exposed, he winds up digging himself into a very big hole.
Alongside Chandrasekhar, the pilot will star Sarah Chalke (“Scrubs”) as his wife, as well as Selma Blair, Travis Schuldt, Hayes MacArthur, Collette Wolfe, Luka Jones, Lindsay Sloane, and Rob Delaney.
Chandrasekhar will also write and direct the pilot. It’s the latest entry in the filmmaker’s prolific comedy career, which includes directing movies like “Super Troopers” and “Beerfest” (via his comedy group Broken Lizard) as well as episodes of TV shows like “Arrested Development,” “Community,” and “Happy Endings.”
“Really” will be executive produced by Jamie Tarses (“Happy Endings”), and produced by Main Street Films’ Craig Chang and Harrison Kordestani.
If picked up to a series, “Really” would join an originals lineup that includes “Alpha House,” “The After,” “Bosch,” and “Transparent.”Tags: Amazon, Amazon Originals, Amazon Prime Instant Video, Amazon Studios, arrested development, Broken Lizard, Jay Chandrasekhar, Super Troopers
