Amazon Studios Adds ‘Goosebumps’-Inspired Kids Show to Development Slate
Amazon Studios recently added another kids show to its original programming development slate.
Series creator Ryan Klyftahn uploaded the show concept and pilot script for youth thriller “Bus 9” on April 19. The series is inspired by classic kids series like R.L. Stine’s “Goosebumps” and Nickelodeon’s “Are You Afraid of the Dark?” and follows a group of students who tell each other ghost stories on a schoolbus. Along the way, the main character, Sofie, who has just moved to town, learns of the mysterious disappearance of a classmate and tries to piece together what happened. Each episode will apparently feature a new, standalone story, which will also contribute to the season-long mystery.
Amazon Studios has three kids shows currently in production for Prime Instant Video: “Annebots,” “Creative Galaxy,” and Tumbleaf.” Overall, Amazon Studios has 19 kids and comedy projects in some stage of development. It’s up to the company’s development to determine which, if any, of these shows get picked up for a full season.Tags: Amazon Originals, Amazon Studios, Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Bus 9, development, Goosebumps, kids programming, Nickelodeon, RL Stine
