AOL Canada to Launch In-House Video Studio

As it is with its larger US counterpart, video is becoming a central focus for AOL Canada, too.

AOL Canada has announced plans for a full-service in-house studio, which will be responsible for a range of video operations and advertiser-centric services at the company, including video production, videography, video editing, interviews, hosted programs, custom video ad solutions, and live streaming.

Video consumption for AOL north of the border is growing. Recent comScore data shows that total video views — which include content and ad views — rose 53% year-over-year in December 2014.

To oversee video initiatives for the company, AOL Canada has tapped Brad Cessman, its current head of content, whose responsibilities have been expanded to include video marketing. His new title is VP of marketing and content for AOL Canada. Vivian Ip, the company’s current head of agency development and sales operations, has also been given a bigger role, now tasked with aligning “the delivery of AOL Canada’s video and platforms strategy with its key commercial partners.”

AOL Canada is also actively searching for people to fill “niche roles” within its video operations team, the company said.
