AOL Nets Video Deal with Fox Sports
Per the deal, a slate of digital content produced by Fox Sports, including the social series [email protected] and other Fox Sports “digital originals,” will be available on AOL On.
Video from Fox Sports TV shows such as “Garbage Time with Katie Nolan,” as well as select game highlights, will also be available.
The deal builds on a syndication and programming agreement AOL signed with ESPN in 2013, which brought highlights, news, and analysis from the Disney-owned sports network to AOL’s video platform and sites. With Fox Sports, in addition to syndicating the network’s video content, AOL will also co-produce content tied to major sporting events throughout the year. This will be offered to advertisers who want to expand their reach to audiences watching those events on TV, the companies said.
Currently, Fox Sports has the rights covering the NFL, Major League Baseball, college football, UFC, NASCAR, World Cup soccer, and the UEFA Champions League, among others.
AOL says it’s “laser-focused” on sports content in 2015, with plans to build out distribution and original programming in the field. This includes a live sports show, which the company plans to roll out soon.Tags: AOL, digital distribution, Fox Sports, syndication
