Astronauts Wanted Names Billy Parks Chief Content Officer
Astronauts Wanted, No Experience Necessary, a joint venture between former MTV Networks CEO Judy McGrath and Sony Music Entertainment, has named Billy Parks its new chief content officer.
Parks joins Astronauts Wanted, a company launched by McGrath to make original video content for the millennial generation, after spending some time as EVP of digital production and programming at The Chernin Group.
As chief content officer, Parks will be tasked with developing and producing series and branded content for young, socially-savvy consumers. He will work with Astronauts Wanted chief creative strategist Nick Shore to develop content “with and for the new wave of social media stars,” said McGrath in a statement.
This wouldn’t be new to Parks, who co-created, developed, and executive produced the social-media reality series [email protected] for Chernin Group, which recently greenlit the show for a second season. The show generated more than 15 million views and “10 million engagements across social platforms” during the first season. Astronauts Wanted and McGrath are on board as creative/production partners for round two.
Prior to Chernin Group, Parks was an independent producer of commercials and music videos, having worked with brands like Honda, NFL, and Microsoft, and artists like Rihanna, Beyonce, Kanye West, and Jay-Z.Tags: @SummerBreak, astronauts wanted, Billy Parks, Exec Moves, judy mcgrath, Movers, MTV, mtv networks, The Chernin Group
