Patagonia’s Award-Winning Documentary ‘DamNation’ Soon Available on Vimeo
This Thursday, June 5, Patagonia will host free screenings of the award-winning documentary “DamNation” in 23 cities across the United States. Having won awards at SWSW, the DC Environmental Film Festival, and MountainFilm, the feature-length film will then come to Vimeo On Demand on June 6.
The 23 cities where the screenings will take place include Atlanta, Austin, Boulder, Denver, Palo Alto, Georgetown, Reno, and Salt Lake City. (You can see the full list of screenings here.)
The documentary takes viewers all over the American landscape to spread awareness on how the removal of obsolete dams will renew the lives of many of our nation’s rivers.
Directed by Ben Knight and Travis Rummel and produced by Patagonia in association with Stoecker Ecological & Felt Soul Media Production, “DamNation” further seeks to spur on action regarding US dams. Patagonia has requested involvement from the people to incite President Obama to authorize studies on removing the troublesome lower dams on the Snake River in Idaho. The company’s petition has already gathered 25,000 signatures with eventual hopes of reaching the White House.
The June 6 Vimeo On Demand release means that individuals will be able to purchase the documentary for $9.99 or rent it for $5.99. Patagonia has further collaborated with Vimeo to curate several other titles with an ecological bent in Vimeo On Demand’s “Patagonia Selects collection.”
