BBC Commissions WWI Documentary Series for iPlayer
As part of its World War One Season programming initiative, BBC has commissioned a new documentary series called “WW1 Uncut,” which it will distribute exclusively on its iPlayer platform.
Launching with three episodes — “Trenches & Barbed Wire,” “A Soldier’s Kit,” and “Breaking Deadlock” — the series aims to explain war topics in an educational and entertaining way. This aligns with the broadcaster’s focus on putting more youth-skewing content on the iPlayer going forward. Twelve total short films have been commissioned by the BBC. Additional episodes will roll out on iPlayer throughout the spring, the company said.
“WW1 Uncut” is produced by Ballista Media, with historian and broadcaster Dan Snow serving as host. Other hosts, or “lead presenters,” include Michael Douglas (“The One Show”), Dr. Saleyha Ashan (“Trust Me I’m a Doctor”) and Sam Willis (“Nelson’s Caribbean Hell-Hole.”)Tags: ballista media, BBC, Documentary Series, iPlayer, Short Films, world war one
