Bill Carr, Amazon’s Head of Media, Is Leaving the Company
Bill Carr, who has been with Amazon since 1999, most recently as its head of digital music and video, is leaving the company.
First reported by The Wall Street Journal, Carr is expected to exit by the end of the year. He made the announcement internally on Tuesday.
As the company’s head of media, Carr was a key figure in Amazon’s push into video content over the past few years, beginning with the launch of Amazon Instant Video and the subsequent build-out of its film and TV library. Later, he also helped shepherd the company’s expansion into original programming, which resulted in the creation of shows like “Alpha House,” “Betas,” and “Transparent.”Tags: Amazon, Amazon Instant VIdeo, Amazon Studios, Bill Carr, Exec Moves, Movers
