Bing Chen Leaves YouTube to Join Unnamed Stealth Startup
Bing Chen, one of YouTube’s most important executives in its relationship with its vibrant creator community, is leaving the company.
For the past four years, Chen has served as YouTube’s global creator development and management lead. In that time, he work and consulted with stars ranging from Michelle Phan, who recently signed a deal with Endemol Beyond, to Jenna Marbles and Boyce Avenue. He was also YouTube’s first-ever “marketing manager for creators” and behind many of the creative services the company offers today.
Where’s he going? He’s not saying at the moment. Chen will be joining a “stealth startup in a space he knows very well,” per the announcement. The startup will be revealed this summer.
Here’s a blog post from Chen on his departure. True to form, there’s not any information on what Chen is looking to do next, but if you’re interested in a YouTube executive talking about the power of the platform, and his journey adjacent to the rise of YouTube’s creator community, it’s a good one.Tags: Bing Chen, Exec Moves, Michelle Phan, Movers, philip defranco, ShayCarl, youtube, YouTube Creators
