Blip and My Damn Channel: Two Heads Are Better Than One

/ Apr 24, 2013

Two longtime web video providers, Blip and My Damn Channel, are teaming up to produce new original programming as well as sell it to advertisers targeting the 18-34 demographic.

As part of the agreement, My Damn Channel will produce four original comedy series for Blip, including new seasons of “Wainy Days” and “Daddy Knows Best,” as well as two other that are currently in development. Each series will debut simultaneously on Blip and My Damn Channel, and will be available exclusively on both sites for 30 days, after which they’ll roll out to other web video outlets like YouTube. Variety was first to report on the deal.

The content deal does not end there, though. Blip will also offer some of My Damn Channel’s older shows, some of which date as far back as 2007.

The two companies will also co-distribute a new show from comedian Maria Bamford (Louie, Arrested Development), who is joining the My Damn Channel Comedy Network with a new series called “Ask My Mom!” Premiering on My Damn Channel and Blip next month, Bamford will play herself and her mother, as they offer advice on “love, life, parenting, religion and how to upload your Weight Watcher points to the Cloud.”

Expect more info to be revealed about this partnership during Blip’s Newfront next week on May 1. But until then, here’s some more info on the two shows that have already been announced:

“Wainy Days”: Writer/director David Wain (Wet Hot American Summer, Role Models) plays a fictional version of himself as he looks for love in New York City, and all of the troubles that naturally ensue. This will be the Streamy and Webby-winning series’ sixth season. Produced by Jonathan Stern for Marcus Stansel Productions in association with My Damn Channel.

“Daddy Knows Best”: Steve Rannazzisi (The League) plays a terrible father who can’t stop lying to his wife. It will be the show’s second season. Produced by Lowell Shapiro and Mike Dill, Black Box Management, in association with My Damn Channel.

Sales teams from both Blip and My Damn Channel will sell the new programming to advertisers, offering them access to a combined audience of nearly 40 million monthly viewers.
