Bruce Campbell to Host Game Show on Cinedigm’s Con TV
Actor Bruce Campbell (“The Evil Dead,” “Burn Notice”) will host a new game show for Con TV, an upcoming geek-centric streaming channel from Cinedigm and Wizard World.
Created in partnership with Pop Quiz Entertainment, the companies have started production on “Last Fan Standing.” In the show, Campbell will visit various Comic-Cons across the country — starting with the one in New Orleans on January 10 — and quiz attendees who compete for various cash and prizes, as well as the ultimate title of “last fan standing.” Wizard World is a prolific producer of Comic-Cons around the country (though it’s not associated with the biggest one, San Diego Comic-Con).
The idea for the show actually comes from a Wizard World convention in Chicago, where fans recently went nuts for the live quiz game. “The audience went crazy for ‘Last Fan Standing’ when we debuted the game at Chicago Comic Con this summer,” said Campbell in a statement. “Con TV is the perfect place to reach true fans, and we can’t wait to challenge our audiences to find out who is the ultimate pop culture guru.”
Announced last year and scheduled to launch in February, Con TV is a joint venture between independent distributor Cinedigm and Wizard World that’s entirely dedicated to those who frequent Comic-Con conventions.
“Last Man Standing” will be shot throughout this year and will debut on the streaming channel later this year.
It’s the second original series commissioned for Con TV. The channel will also be home to “Fight of the Living Dead,” a zombie-themed horror-competition series that sequesters a bunch of YouTubers in an abandoned area and forces them to survive a simulated zombie apocalypse. That show comes to Con TV from Alpine Labs, BlackBoxTV, and Revolver Picture Company.
In addition to originals, Con TV will also offer an assortment of cult movie and TV shows from the Cinedigm library.
At launch, the channel will offer an ad-supported version as well as a subscription one priced at $6.99 per month. The subscription version will also include various content exclusives, audience rewards, and ticketing bundle opportunities for Wizard World conventions. Con TV is expected to be available across Roku, Apple TV, Chromecast, Xbox, PlayStation, and other major mobile and connected-TV operating platforms.Tags: Bruce Campbell, Cinedigm, Con TV, connected TV, Game Show, Pop Quiz Entertainment, Wizard World
