‘Cabin in the Woods’ Director to Helm ‘Daredevil’ for Netflix
Filmmaker Drew Goddard will write and direct the pilot for Netflix’s upcoming “Daredevil” original series.
Goddard has an extensive list of credits as a writer on hit shows like “Lost,” “Alias,” “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” and “Angel.” His directorial debut was 2012’s critically acclaimed “Cabin in the Woods,” which was also penned by Goddard and Joss Whedon.
In addition to writing and directing the Netflix pilot, Goddard will serve as an executive producer for the series, which will initially run for 13 episodes starting in 2015.
Earlier this year, Netflix inked a deal with Disney to develop several original series based on Marvel comic book characters. Aside from “Daredevil,” Netflix is creating series centered around Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist. Once each respective series ends its 13-episode arc, the Netflix originals will culminate in a crossover series titled “The Defenders.”
The “Daredevil” series, in addition to its contemporaries, is produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Television Studios.Tags: Daredevil, disney, Drew Goddard, Marvel, netflix originals, streaming
