Cable TV Veteran Laureen Ong Now on WWE Board of Directors
WWE announced the addition of Laureen Ong to its board of directors on Monday. With plenty of experience in the cable TV industry, Ong will be able to help with sales, marketing, management, and programming as WWE seeks to grow its digital hub.
Ong comes from her most recent position as president of the Travel Channel, where she worked on brand strategy and program development. She also served as the COO of Star Group Limited, based in Hong Kong, and launched the National Geographic Channel as the network’s founding president.
Vince McMahon, chairman and CEO of WWE said in a statement, “Laureen brings more than 30 years of global media experience that will be very beneficial to the future growth of our company.”
In addition to achieving Woman of the Year from Women in Cable Television, Ong has also received the Vision Award from the Washington sect of Women in Film and Video as well as the Multichannel News’ Wonder Woman award.
WWE delivers digital shows such as “SmackDown” and “WrestleMania.” Its multi-platform content reaches over 650 million homes around the world.
