Capcom Gives ‘Street Fighter’ Web Series 2014 Release Date
Capcom announced today that upcoming web series “Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist” has finished principal photography after five months and will be released sometime in early 2014.
The series, which is based on Capcom’s “Street Fighter” franchise, follows the dark origins of one of “Street Fighter’s” greatest villains Akuma as he trains under Gouken, the master of Ken and Ryu, who will later became the franchise’s poster boys.
“Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist” is directed and co-written by Joey Ansah who also plays Akuma in the web series. Christian Howard, the series’ second co-writer, plays Ken with Togo Igawa portraying grandmaster Goutetsu. Mike Moh stars as Ryu and Hal Yamanouchi plays Senzo.
The web series is produced by Jacqueline Quella with distribution by Content Media. On November 1, 2013, Content sold the online rights for “Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist” to an unnamed “major global online channel,” who would receive a short first window. The online channel has not been officially named, but with YouTube MCN Machinima’s previous track record of hosting live action video game web shows like “Mortal Kombat: Legacy,” the network seems like a strong contender.Tags: Machinima, Street Fighter, Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist, web series, youtube
