CDS Sets Companion Series to James Patterson’s Next Novel ‘House of Robots’
Collective Digital Studio has partnered with author James Patterson to produce an animated YouTube series based on his upcoming book called “House of Robots.”
Spanning five episodes, the animated companion will premiere on November 28. The series will live on Lucas Cruikshank’s Fred YouTube channel, which has more than 2.3 million subscribers. The channel was resurrected earlier this year to serve as a hub for new family and entertainment content created by the YouTube star and CDS.
Executive produced by CDS and Patterson, the “House of Robots” companion will follow the adventures of fifth-grader Sammy Hayes-Rodriguez and his robot E (named for “Error”). In Patterson’s novel, Sammy, who struggles to fit in, is less than thrilled when his genius mom insists he bring her newest invention — the robot — to school. The web series will bring several scenes from the book to life, as Sammy discovers the amazing secrets the robot holds.
New episodes of “House of Robots” will debut every Friday following the November 28 premiere. The show follows other family-friendly programming launched on Fred in recent months, including “In Your Face featuring Jake Paul,” “Minecraft Adventures,” which stars Cruikshank, “Riddle of the Sphinx,” and Stormy & Baker.”
This series is separate from an existing content deal CDS has with Patterson. Under that arrangement, CDS is developing a YouTube series based on the author’s best-selling young-adult franchise “Maximum Ride.”
