Cinedigm Expands Digital Networks Team
Distributor Cinedigm has upped Erick Opeka to EVP of digital networks. He will oversee the company’s consumer-facing over-the-top network businesses, responsible for their strategic planning, launch, and ongoing operation.
Earlier this spring, Cinedigm launched Docurama, a multi-platform digital channel focused on documentary films and non-fiction TV and digital programming. Later this fall, the company plans to debut a Comic Con-themed channel called Con TV.
Prior to his promotion, Opeka served as SVP of digital distribution for Cinedigm. He held the same position at New Video, which was acquired by Cinedigm in 2012.
Opeka was not the only promotion at Cinedigm, as Suzanne Lee has been named director of business development and strategy for digital networks at the company. In her expanded role, Lee will focus on business development, including brand, distribution, and content partnerships for the digital channels. She will also oversee programming, with a focus on developing Cinedigm’s original content slate.
Most recently, Lee was responsible for transitioning Documentary from a documentary label to a full-fledged digital channel.
In addition to Opeka and Lee, three new hires were made for Cinedigm’s digital networks team: Shawn Sheikh has been named senior product manager, tasked with leading product development for the company’s portfolio of digital channels; Jason Rubin has been named brand manager, responsible for helping launch Con TV in the fourth quarter of 2014; and Geoffrey DeHaven has joined as operations manager.Tags: Cinedigm, Docurama, Erick Opeka, Exec Moves, Geoffrey DeHaven, Jason Rubin, Movers, OTT, Shawn Sheikh, Suzanna Lee
