Cinedigm Releases Docurama App on iOS
Earlier this year, Cinedigm, a distributor of independent films and TV shows, launched its own streaming video channel called Docurama, which focuses on documentary films and non-fiction programming. Originally available online and on an array of connected-TV devices, Cinedigm is now taking Docurama to mobile with a new iOS app.
The app gives viewers access to more than 600 documentaries, all via Cinedigm’s expansive library of film and TV titles. This number is also expected to grow to more than 1,000 titles by the end of 2014.
All content on the channel is ad-supported, and is separated by a variety of genres including pop culture, sports thrillers, environmental activism, arts & music, human interest, and travel/leisure, among others. New titles are added to the channel on a monthly basis, occasionally tied to tentpole events like holidays and other major current events.
Going forward, Cinedigm plans to expand the scope of Docurama by adding different types of documentary-related content, including interviews with renowned filmmakers and festival programmers, film festival coverage, sneak peeks of upcoming films, short-form content, and even original programming.
Docurama’s channel partners include Arthouse Films, First Run Features, Mill Creek Entertainment, MVD, Kinonation, and Connell Creations.Tags: amazon fire, app, Cinedigm, Documentary, Docurama, iOS, opera, OTT, Roku, samsung, Xbox
