Comedy Central’s CC:Studios Greenlights Five New Series, Renews Two

Comedy Central Roustabout Show 1-29-15

Comedy Central, through its digital video arm CC:Studios, has announced its latest digital development slate, which includes five new and two returning series, as well as one premiere.

The premiere, a comedy travelogue called “Roustabout,” follows Kurt Braunohler as he jet-skis from Chicago to New Orleans to raise money for charity. Along the way, the comedian will make stops in several cities to perform stand-up sets and “other hijinks with friends,” including guest stars Wyatt Cenac, Jon Daly, Kyle Kinane, and Kristen Schaal. Directed by Jeff Tomsic, the series was announced by CC:Studios last year.

CC:Studios renewals include “Six Guys One Car” and “New Timers.”

Picked up for a second season, “Six Guys One Car” follows YouTube stars Dormtainment as they try to survive on a shoestring income generated from their shows and videos. The series is written by Dormtainment and stars Mike Anthony, Rome Green Jr., Tay Dier, Cameron Miller, Chaz Miller, and Amanuel Richards. It’s directed by Nick Goossen.

Also going into its second season, “New Timers” focuses on two guys and their day-to-day lives in post-apocalyptic Brooklyn. The series is written and directed by, and stars Matt Porter and Charlie Hankin.

Among the new series greenlit by CC:Studios is an untitled project with Matt Braunger, whose show is set in the year 2042, when all white people have been transported to the “New United States” (formerly known as Canada), leaving struggling actor Gary as the last white guy and only Caucasian representative in Los Angeles. The series is written by Braunger and Kevin Avery.

Other series in development include:

“How to Be Friends with Everyone on Earth” (working title): A Vine celebrity runs into awkward real-life situations as he tries to adapt his six-second videos into a book. Writer: Sean O’Connor.

Untitled Rich Fulcher project: Guided by probing host Rich Fulcher and several of his high students, the series sets out to discuss absurd hypotheticals in much the same way as a science or history show. Writer: Rich Fulcher.

Untitled David Angelo project: One man’s epic struggle to overcome minor inconveniences — “Seinfeld” meets a sedative. Writer: David Angelo.

“Broken People” (working title): Jared and Taylor have it all: an apartment, a robust relationship, and a deep-seeded fear that they will never achieve the happiness that everyone else seems to experience. Comedy ensues. Writers: Taylor Orci, Jared Nigro, and Scotty Landes.
