Conde Nast Adds Wired to Growing Digital Video Network

/ May 15, 2013

Conde Nast Entertainment has launched its fourth video channel, this one for Wired magazine, to add to its growing digital video network, which also includes video destinations for GQ, Glamour, and Vogue.

The initial slate of programming for the Wired channel includes five new original series, as well as a couple of other video projects, bringing the total number of programs on the channel to seven. With today’s launch, CNE has premiered three new series. From the release:

The Window takes you on a tour of the world’s most extraordinary construction projects, factories, labs and landmarks — seen through the eyes of the people who work there.

Angry Nerd is a the definitive soapbox series that features Wired’s resident curmudgeon Chris Baker ranting from behind his office desk about subjects that only a passionate tech nerd can take.

Game / Life”: Video game experts Chris Kohler, Peter Rubin and Chris Baker dissect the world of games with the expertise of professionals and the excitement of die-hard fans. Famed designers and players join the team to talk about the latest news and what’s great — and not-so-great — in the industry.

Two other original shows, including Wired’s first scripted series, as well as a couple of other video projects, are also set to debut soon:

“Codefellas”: Wired’s first scripted show, “Codefellas” is set within the secret world of the NSA and animated by Richard Linklater Studios and stars John Hodgman.

“What’s Inside”: A beautifully animated expression of one of the magazine’s most popular features. From coffee to matchsticks, “What’s Inside” reveals the real ingredients and science that underpins the objects and products we use every day.

“Mr. Know It All”: Confused by your digital life? Our super-genius advice columnist answers questions ranging from the right music for your toddler to the wavelength for your space-based laser weapon.

“ReWired: The Documentary”: Step inside the offices of the world’s most influential magazine [Ed. note: In this case, we assume they are referring to Wired] as the new editor-in-chief Scott Dadich and his lauded design team embark on a major Wired redesign.

The shows will be available on Wired’s video destination on its own website as well as its YouTube channel. During its Newfront, CNE announced a syndication deal to distribute content to AOL, Dailymotion, Grab Media and Twitter. Content from the Wired video channel will presumably show up there as well.

Microsoft has signed on to sponsor the channel launch to promote the Microsoft Surface, Windows Phone and Windows 8.
