Content Exec Kelly Merryman Jumps from Netflix to YouTube
YouTube has hired Kelly Merryman as its new vice president of content partnerships.
In the role, Merryman will be responsible for handling YouTube’s relationships with media companies and content providers. She will oversee a content partnerships team at YouTube that includes Gautam Anand, Jamie Byrne, John Farrell, Laura Lee, Stephen Nuttal, and Joe Zepp, according to Variety, which first reported on Merryman’s move.
Based in LA and starting in January, she will report to YouTube’s head of content and business operations Robert Kyncl, who she previously worked with at Netflix.
At Netflix, Merryman was VP of content acquisitions, overseeing a global team that now includes former Vuguru CEO Larry Tanz. Across seven years, she helped build Netflix’s content library as it has expanded globally.
The hire comes after months of executive shuffling at YouTube, which has seen many changes across its content, operations, and product divisions. Merryman will be partially replacing former YouTube content VP Tom Pickett, who departed earlier this fall for The Chernin Group- and AT&T-owned Otter Media.Tags: Exec Moves, Kelly Merryman, Movers, Netflix, youtube
