CTV Extend Marks New Online Hub for Original Series

CTV of Bell Media just launched CTV Extend, a new hub for digital media that grants consumers access to original and acquired online content. Starting off with over 10 series and an overall 120 episodes, the media company will receive its funding from ad revenue to keep viewers from having to pay for content.

The platform’s original series include shows like “Backpackers,” which follows two best friends on a European adventure, and “Space Riders: Division Earth,” which explores the consequences of an alien villain escaping from space jail. The former includes eight, eleven-minute episodes, while the intergalactic series features thirteen, eight-minute videos.

CTV Extend will also host shows that have been handed over from other media outlets, like “Guidestones,” which came from iThentic and 3o’clock.tv. The Emmy Award-winning series about journalism students digging deep into murder and a global conspiracy will put its second season on CTV Extend.

The company also ordered the pilot for “Joke or Choke,” created by Craig Brown with stars Jonny Harris and Mark Forward. Made expressly for the new digital video platform, the thirty-minute pilot executively produced by Howie Mandel, John Brunton, Barbara Bowlby, and Mike Marks will showcase stand-up comedians as they compete in front of a particularly difficult judge.
