Dailymotion Acquires Interactive Video Tech Company Jilion
Dailymotion has acquired video tech company Jilion. According to the Jilion blog, the technology provider will integrate its SublimeVideo technology into the Dailymotion platform.
Built on HTML5, SublimeVideo offers a cloud-based storage system and robust video-customization options. Using SublimeVideo, creators can embed custom tabs into videos, which can direct viewers to third-party sites or create interactive elements like a 360 degree image viewer.
Jilion writes: “Since SublimeVideo started by accident, almost 4 years ago, we’ve been approached a number of times for acquisition. Today, we are very happy to join Dailymotion, as they really came with the best vision and proposal to leverage our unique technology and propel it to the next level.”
With the acquisition, Dailymotion will offer its content producers enhanced video features via SublimeVideo. Dailymotion CEO, Deric Tournay spoke about SublimeVideo integration, saying that the video engine will help connect the video site’s users across desktop, mobile, tablets, and TV.
Back in October, it was rumored that Dailymotion had acquired an unnamed European company with hopes of expanding its global audience. Although it is unclear whether that company was Jilion, the tech provider is currently based in Switzerland.
Despite the acquisition, the SublimeVideo service will continue as-is for all current customers, according to Jilion.Tags: Dailymotion, Jilion, SublimeVideo
