Dailymotion Launches Its Own Live Streaming Gaming Platform
Available at games.dailymotion.com and powered by the company’s video player and live-streaming technology, the new platform allows users to create, distribute, and share live gameplay streams. Monetization is also available via ads, which Dailymotion says users have control over.
Viewer-centric features include search, recommendations, and real-time chatting, video recommendations.
“Since 2011, with the first Dailymotion Cup on Starcraft, Dailymotion has accompanied e-sport growth on
the internet,” said the company’s COO Martin Rogard in a statement. “Over the coming months, we will significantly increase our investment in the e-sport domain to ensure worldwide recognition of all our talented content producers.”
In addition to the web, Dailymotion Games is also available on iOS, Android, and PS4. Launch partners include Gamespot, JeuxVideo.com, Eclypsia, joinDota, and OnGameNet.
The move is a natural one for Dailymotion, where gaming content attracts more than 11 million uniques per month, according to comScore. Based on its last reported numbers in December, though, Twitch currently reaches more than 60 million uniques per month — so Dailymotion has quite a bit of ground to make up if it wants to seriously compete with the Amazon-owned live video giant.Tags: Dailymotion, dailymotion games, gaming, livestreaming, twitch
