Dailymotion Signs Content Distribution Deal with FC Barcelona
Dailymotion and FC Barcelona have banded together to create a channel dedicated to the soccer club. The deal also makes Dailymotion the exclusive video player for FC Barcelona’s official website.
Per the deal, FC Barcelona will upload hundreds of on-demand video clips and live-streams to the channel each month during the soccer season. Content on the channel will range from match highlights to player interviews and press conferences, as well as new player introductions and any media surrounding the Camp Nou Stadium.
The Dailymotion channel will also host coverage of handball, basketball, and futsal (a five-sided version of soccer).
FC Barcelona’s digital popularity most likely means built-in viewership for the new channel, as the club boasts 75 million plus Facebook and Twitter followers.
According to Marc Eychenne, the vice president of international content at Dailymotion, “The agreement builds on the great results that Dailymotion has achieved with other leading football clubs, leagues and federations – and underlines how the Dailymotion player is the video technology solution that the world’s leading sports brands trust to deliver.”
Such Dailymotion deals include partnerships across the NBA, NFL, NHL, and French Football Federation. Dailymotion reaches 120 million viewers per month with over 2.5 billion videos.Tags: camp nou stadium, Dailymotion, facebook, fc barcelona, live streaming, twitter, VOD
