Digital Distributor Syndicado Acquires Bunch of Films at TIFF
Syndicado, a distributor of feature films and TV shows for digital and VOD platforms in North America, has acquired a slate of new films from Paris-based Doc and Film at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Films include three independent titles from writer-director Robert Minervini, including “Stop the Pounding Heart,” “Low Tide,” and “The Passage.” The deal covers all rights in Canada for Minervini’s films, plus digital for other English-speaking territories outside of the US. Syndicado will also handle the theatrical release of “Stop the Pounding Heart” in Canada.
The acquisitions follow Syndicado’s recent move into theatrical release for both the US and Canadian markets, the company said.
“We’re delighted to further our relationship with Doc and Film for both narrative films and docs, as they continue to attract talented filmmakers under their banner. Minervini’s close-up docu-style in all three of his rural, Texas-shot pics, coupled with his light directorial hand with talent, drew us to this trilogy-esque series,” said Syndicado president Greg Rubidge in a statement.
Beyond Minervini’s films, Syndicado has also acquired SVOD and VOD rights to distribute seven documentaries from Doc and Film across all “major” English markets.Tags: digital distribution, Doc and Film International, Documentary Films, Robert Minervini, SVOD, Syndicado, Theatrical Release, TIFF, Toronto International Film Festival, VOD
