Director Kevin Macdonald to Debut ‘Christmas in a Day’ on YouTube
Oscar-winning director Kevin Macdonald is debuting his latest documentary, “Christmas in a Day,” on YouTube. The film is comprised of footage all shot on Christmas day in 2010 by ordinary people around the globe. It will debut on YouTube on November 29, 2013.
“Christmas in a Day” acts as a follow up to Macdonald’s film “Life in a day,” which also saw a release on YouTube. The documentary has received over 8 million views since its release in 2011.
Macdonald will also host a screening at BAFTA in London, where he will debut “Christmas in a Day” to those who sent in footage.
About the upcoming documentary, Macdonald explained that “Life in a Day” captured people on an ordinary day, which inspired him to consider the possibility of filming people on an extraordinary day like Christmas. “When we were cutting that film, we talked about what it might be like if we chose a day that already had significance to people. The result is ‘Christmas in a Day’,” he said.
British supermarket chain Sainsbury’s is a participating partner to the film. The chain will run multiple trailers for the film on primetime U.K. TV, including one during massively popular soap opera “Coronation Street.”Tags: Christmas in a Day, Documentary, Kevin Macdonald, Life in a day, youtube
