Director Wes Anderson Uploads Amazing Short to YouTube
Hollywood directors just can’t seem to stop posting stuff on YouTube. Only yesterday, Oscar-winning director Kevin Macdonald announced that his documentary “Christmas in a Day” would be available on YouTube starting November 29.
Joining Macdonald, Academy Award-nominated director Wes Anderson (“The Royal Tenenbaums,” “Rushmore”) has placed a short film on YouTube as well. The film, “Castello Cavalcanti,” stars actor Jason Schwartzman who plays an American racecar driver who quite literally crashes into his heritage. The film is presented by Prada and uploaded to the fashion company’s YouTube channel, but Anderson wrote and directed the whole thing.
It’s a really incredible short film that sets a great example for the kind of content that seems to belong on YouTube. Without a global video platform like YouTube, it would be hard to imagine a place where a film like “Castello Cavalcanti” could flourish.
