E! Unifies TV and Online News Divisions

E! is combining its online and TV news divisions under the leadership of John Najarian, executive vice president of news and digital for the network. With the move, which will merge all content, social and interactive, and product and operations under one umbrella, E! hopes to create an organizational structure that makes it easy to be nimble across platforms.

This is particularly important as news consumption continues to be driven by online and mobile platforms. “E! News” currently reaches 18 million viewers per month, and its audience is roughly 20 years younger than its competitors, according to the network. E! Online, however, averaged 39 million monthly uniques across its platforms in Q4 2014, a 79% jump year over year. The network’s social reach is more than 49 million fans/followers.

“Creating an integrated organization is an important step as we evolve the network’s linear news strategy and multi-screen approach,” said Najarian in a statement. “We are positioning the network to better serve entertainment and pop culture fans with an authentic, relevant, consistent voice throughout our news platforms.”

Supporting Najarian will be a group of executives who’ve received promotions at the network.

Romina Rosada has been named SVP of content for news and digital, overseeing content strategy, all news gathering, reporting, and curation of content under one team for both “E! News” and E! Online. She was previously VP of E! Online.

Gerald Abrahamian is now SVP of product, technology, and operations, and is tasked with leading “cross-functional collaboration,” managing digital product strategy, and driving new revenue opportunities that maximize linear and digital integrations, E! said. He was previously VP of technology and operations.

On the video side, Edward Zarcoff, as SVP of digital programming and production, will oversee E!’s digital production efforts, with the goal of creating video content for all of the brand’s platforms. He is responsible for the production of all E! Online videos, as well as breaking news clips and branded content distributed across the network’s partner sites and platforms.

Bryce Kristensen is now VP of social and interactive experiences, overseeing interactive and social strategy across “E! News” and E! Online. He also manages strategy and partnerships with all social platforms on behalf of the network.

Jennifer Lavin, who executive produces “E! News,” will retain her role.

The news comes almost six months after E! president Suzanne Kolb left the network amid a larger reorganization at NBCUniversal’s cable networks, which are now under the oversight of NBCU Cable Entertainment’s lifestyle group president Frances Berwick.
