Endemol Beyond USA Debuts New Channels for Scripted and Reality Series

Endemol Beyond USA, the digital channel network owned by Endemol North America, is launching two new digital channels for original web series and reality programming.

Beyond Originals (stylized “BEYONDoriginals”) will focus on developing, acquiring, and programming scripted series across drama, comedy, and horror genres, among others. For the channel, Endemol Beyond will crowdsource submissions from independent creators across the globe, as well as internally develop starring vehicles for digital and traditional stars.

As part of the channel launch, Endemol Beyond USA said that it would also give “engaging global storytellers” the chance to compete for TV development deals, likely via parent company Endemol’s TV production arm.

The second “hub” channel from Endemol Beyond USA is Beyond Reality (stylized “BEYONDreality”), which will be the online home for original reality programming developed by Endemol Beyond USA, as well as clips and remixes of reality TV series and game shows from Endemol North America and its subsidiaries 51 Minds, Original Media, True Entertainment, and Authentic Entertainment.

The first two shows to launch on Beyond Reality are “The #Muthaship,” starring Emmy-winning actress Drea de Matteo (“The Sopranos”), and “True Internet Tails,” a format co-developed by Endemol Beyond USA president Will Keenan and Emmy-nominated producer Michael Lynn (“E!’s True Hollywood Story”). “The #Muthaship” will launch timed to the final season of FX’s “Sons of Anarchy,” which de Matteo stars in. Meanwhile “True Internet Tales,” which will explore the origin behind some of the web’s biggest stars and memes, will premiere later this fall.

Endemol Beyond USA plans to unveil the channels during the 2014 Streamy Awards, which take place later tonight and will be streamed online starting at 10:30pm ET.

Since launching nine months ago, Endemol Beyond USA has signed both traditional and digital talent to its network, including Pitbull, de Matteo, Michelle Phan, and Brittany Furlan. It claims a monthly audience of 300 million.
