Endemol-Shine-Core Media Joint Venture Assigns North American Bosses
The upcoming joint venture bringing together Endemol, Shine Group, and Core Media continues to get its new leadership team in place. Today, Endemol North America bosses Cris Abrego and Charlie Corwin have been named co-chairman and co-CEOs of the North American arm of the new supergroup.
In their new roles, Abrego and Corwin will continue to oversee day-to-day operations across all Endemol properties in the US, while also assuming responsibility for Shine America once the merger deal is completed. (Their existing roles include oversight of Endemol Beyond USA, the domestic arm of the digital channels network launched by Endemol earlier this year.)
With Abrego and Corwin soon to be at the helm, current Shine America CEO Rich Ross is leaving the company at the end of the month and will become president of Discovery Channel. Shine Group CEO Alex Mahon will handle day-to-day operations for the domestic arm until the joint venture is officially formed.
The third leg of the tripod, Core Media, will be overseen by Pete Hurwitz, who has been named president.
Abrego, Corwin, and Hurwitz will all report to Tim Hincks, who was just named president of the joint venture.
The merger deal is expected to close by the end of the year. Until then, Endemol, Shine, and Core will continue to operate as separate companies. Upon completion, the new venture will be jointly run by 21st Century Fox and Apollo, with each controlling a 50% stake.Tags: Charlie Corwin, Core Media Group, Cris Abrego, Endemol, Endemol Beyond USA, Endemol North America, Endemol-Shine-Core Group, Exec Moves, Movers, Pete Hurwitz, Rich Ross, Shine America, Shine Digital, Shine Group
