Entertainment One to Bring Cimorelli to TV, Movies
Independent Hollywood studio Entertainment One has signed Cimorelli, a popular YouTube a cappella group comprised of six sisters, to a multi-year output deal to create and distribute original content across “all filmed entertainment media.”
Per the deal, Entertainment One will look to expand the Cimorelli brand into traditional media, including film and TV. A number of scripted and unscripted projects are already in development, according to Entertainment One, which will handle production and worldwide distribution.
“Bringing our expertise in film and television, eOne is dedicated to partnerships with top creative talent and to producing first-rate programming for all platforms,” said John Morayniss, CEO of eOne Television, in a statement. “This relationship allows us to align eOne’s global strength to extend Cimorelli’s celebrity to film and television, as well as further enhance their digital efforts.”
Cimorelli’s YouTube channel, which has close to 3 million subscribers, features original music videos from the sisters, as well as day-to-day vlogs, fashion and makeup tutorials, and behind-the-scenes featurettes documenting what they’re up to around the world. The channel will remain networked with AwesomenessTV.
The group is also signed to Universal Music, and recently headlined the North American Digifest tour and the Coca-Cola Music Experience concert in Madrid.
This output deal was brokered by Jesse Albert of eOne with Tony Novia for Cimorelli. Both will serve as executive producers on all projects that come out of the partnership, alongside Lynne Cimorelli. Albert and eOne’s Jeff Lynas will oversee the relationship for the studio, which plans to announce other multi-platform talent partnerships in the “near future.”Tags: AwesomenessTV, Cimorelli, development, Entertainment One, music, Output Deal, Universal Music Group, web to film, web to tv, YouTube Creators
