Filmmaker Competition Ends in YouTube Space LA with Uma Thurman
The Jameson First Shot competition gives three, unknown filmmakers a chance to write and direct their own screenplays to be produced by Kevin Spacey’s Trigger Street Productions, now for three years running. Sponsored by Jameson Irish Whiskey and Spacey’s production company, the competition also lets the winners direct a Hollywood star in their video shorts. In the competition’s first year in 2012, Spacey himself starred, with Willem Dafoe taking the leading roles in 2013.
This year, Uma Thurman starred in the three winner’s shorts, which debuted this past Saturday, July 26, at the YouTube Space LA. The event’s guests naturally included Thurman and Spacey along with the competition’s winners: Henco J from South Africa, Jessica Valentine from the US, and Ivan Petukhov from Russia.
The three, little-known filmmakers respectively wrote and directed “The Mundane Goddess,” “Jump!” and “The Gift.” It was the first time for this event to take place at the YouTube Space LA, and the videos are now available to watch on the video platform (on Jameson Irish Whiskey’s channel). Also feel free to see Thurman take on the three filmmakers’ completely different visions below:
